Artist Statement
Through the tradition of natural scenery or otherwise, my intention as an artist is to invigorate it, as it were, with a unique process of applying pure unadulterated oil paint in a manner that would appear as natural growth yet supernatural in its rhythmic behaviour. I call it the "Hollenstyle".
I also furthered this technique into texturizing the air itself, harnessing and unifying the picture plane. With this preparation, my work interfaces with the viewer, escorting them into 'my' nature. The act of abstracting realism for me is not destructing and/or reconstructing a recognizable form but to present it the way our sensibilities realize curious relationships. The irony in which I experience life tells us we think one way but often go another. Realizing this dichotomy I lately have been able to further my signature painting technique with which to expose such oddities. Hence my new series titled 'Superimposition' is just that. A ghosting of sort, suggesting a questionable relationship between what is seen and the visual disturbance appearing. I feel so connected to painting that I think transmitting one's true being into a physical form is art. This is why art embodies so many forms. |
